Scarecrows BD - Commentary with William Wesley

Spoilers a plenty so you have been warned!

Waded through all of the bonus material. What a fantastic commentary track by William Wesley and producer Cami Winikof.

I've always wanted to know more about the back story and why the Fowlers ended up as possessed scarecrows. Wesley explains that there is much more of a back story but in essence the Fowlers died and came back as sentinel beings to look after the demonically possessed corn fields.

He also went on to say that if Scarecrows is remade (highly likely judging from the comments by both he and Cami) then his idea that the robbers are dead, and in hell, will be at the forefront of the movie. He's a big fan of The Twilight Zone which explains the back story..

Norman Cabrera, what an incredible talent, he gives great insight in to the making of Scarecrows. Shout!Factory have done a marvellous job, the transfer is superb, there are occasional compression artefacts but they are few and far between.

Bring on the remake!

It's all a deep end.

Guess what? Scarecrows has ALREADY BEEN REMADE!

The 2011 Horror film Husk is stated as being a remake on the films wikipedia page.

"Husk is a 2011 American horror film. It is a remake of the 1988 film Scarecrows".

I had no idea about this so I'm not surprised the film makers themselves didn't know. I watched Husk today and there are SO MANY similarities and homages to the original film. It's obviously not the same thing, but the ending of Husk is pretty good.

Good lord I missed that then! Not to be picky but I'd prefer a proper remake by the original film makers. Let's see what happens eh ;)

It's all a deep end.

I think nearly everyone missed that! Check out Husk though it's a strange experience seeing the homages/references to the original film.

To any BluRay/DVD distribution company: please release No Retreat No Surrender sequels on BluRay!

Husk is surprisingly really good and could serve as both a remake and a sequel.
