Does anyone find Martha Plimpton attractive?

I find it odd she's in films honestly. I just figured she was related to a director or something. I mean jamie lee curtis is talented but her father was already a big name in hollywood. She's talented but I mean they wouldn't dare put Martha in a movie now. They have a formula they follow. It's all about attractive women acting now and if they have talent, that's just a bonus. I found it odd she was playing River's love interest but only for that reason really. I mean in real life he's not going to be mister popular and date the cheerleader type so it was good for the movie, just not good for pulling in young guys wanting to see a hottie. They did it right the way they did "Lucas" right with Carrie Green. But something like Back to the Future where Marty is dating Elizabeth Shue or Claudia Wells...I don't know if I buy that man. haha But today they do it much more unrealistic just to get that horny teen demographic etc.

too boyish and overacts too just comes across as the same annoying character in every movie she is in

The fact that Plimpton and Phoenix were an item at that time might have been a factor in casting her? I thought she was good in this film and there was some chemistry there between them obviously. Just because she isn't attractive in a Hollwood starlet sense doesn't mean isn't pretty. She definitely is.

I think she's weird looking...like she has FAS or something.
