The dobermans

Am I the only one who thought it was really sad when the dobermans died?

Yeah they were villains, but they were Syke's dogs. They had to be deeply influenced by him. I thought the part of the movie where they died represented one of the darkest moments in Disney movie history.

I do have to say that it is pretty disturbing to see dogs die even when they're villains who made the conscious choice to be evil, to some degree. Surely in the hands of a less devious human, they could've had the potential to be better. I'm not breedist and I adore all dogs...it would be awesome to see a Doberman portrayed as a good guy (or at least not a bad guy.) I also loved "Up," but unfortunately it also took three stereotypical "villain breeds" (Doberman, Rottweiler, Bulldog) and made them the most dominant members of the "bad guy dog" pack, whilst the Golden Retriever is the hero. Gladly, though, the ending of that movie acknowledged the influence of a bad owner over a so-called "bad dog" and rectified the situation...so that actually worked out well. Except for the also-disturbing villain death.
