I didn't think the sex scenes added anything to the movie. There was no point in showing the village whore being slammed into by multiple men. Nor was there any point in showing little kids jacking off in a theatre with old people behind them. It just seems trashy and tasteless and something the director did for "humorous" shock value.

Outside of the puritanical world, sex is a part of life, not something to be hidden or relegated to porno films. The film is about a boy as he grows up and becomes a man. I'd be more surprised if it DIDN'T have some sex.
