Who else cried there eyes out, in that one scene

The Black People were in church, and they are singing. And then they walked out of church and the KKK raped the women and beat the men and threw them down the hill. Mississippi was a despicable racist prejudice piece of *beep* place

I didn't cry but I found it very sad
I actually live in Mississippi and I can say
as a black teenager its changed
I go to a Southern Baptist Church that is 98% white
and am openly accepted
and thanks for clarifying about the KKK
I thought they were raping the women but couldn't tell
I am aware that incidents like that happened

reply

In the real history the women were not raped that night that the KKK burned the church. But some were beaten.

reply

And in the real history, the Klansman didn't beat up the black boy- instead, it was a woman who was on her knees praying, and her calling on Jesus made him back off from attacking her.

reply

They were beating Bud Cole (among other men); his wife Beatrice prayed aloud, calling on Jesus, and the Kluckers stopped beating him.

reply

I was shouting at my screen "WHY DIDN'T THE FBI PROTECT THEM ALL, OR STAKEOUT THE CHURCH!".

reply

This was the first of the (many) black church burnings; there was no history of this kind of attack, and there had been no threat communicated ahead of time.

I actually live in Mississippi and I have to make it clear that I am in no way racist and I do not stereotype anyone. Everyone's different in their own way. However, I do go to school with some people that are quite racist and do support the KKK but are in no way active members.

Don't let yourself be fooled. People who are racist and openly support the Klan are only "inactive" because nowadays, they are not as sure the law would be on their side as they were back then.
