Hackman shaving Deputy Clinton Pell....

Great scene, with Hackman acting as barber. Nice touch with the razor on Pell's throat.
Who wouldn't have cut the mofo's neck?

One of the great and one of my fave scenes of the movie.

Both actors played this bit brilliantly.

Hackman sneakily shaving away and deliberately making a few choice 'cuts'. And Dourif looking horrified at the fact that this unstable and angry man had a cutthroat blade on his neck.

Then when he beat him up around the barbers shop while criticising his 'stupid smile', easily the best bit of what was a very impressive film.

I loved seeing Lex Luthor shave/slash Grima Wormtongue in reckless abandon here

The best part of that was when he left him spinning in the chair and the camera stayed on him knocked out until it stopped spinning. That was actually pretty funny!

The scene is enjoyable because every audience likes a good comeuppance for a low life murderer (smug as hell too).

Though the scene was purely for dramatic effect, I always wondered at the final shot of the character unconscious in the chair in terms of feasibility . What exactly happened to him for him to be in the chair unconscious? We hear him thrown around a bit, but if he was knocked out after a toss, the agent would have had to pick him up and place him in the chair (unlikely), otherwise, sit him in the chair and then give him a blow to the head to knock him out (unlikely as well - why put him in the chair first)?

Or maybe he delivered a blow and the deputy happened to fall back into the chair. Unlikely again given the position of his body.

Whatever.

Cool scene.

Very satisfying.

Why did Pell even deserve that beating? Pell I do not think he deserved that beating?

He deserved even more

I agree he should not have been beaten in the barber shop.

He should have had his head cut off and fed to the pigs for being a wife beater.

I guess Pell didn't testify in court about the FBI agent harassing him in the barber shop. Seems to me Anderson could have been brought up on charges of coercion or intimidation tactics. Even if he did have evidence.

And I'm still not clear on how they got all the evidence outside the mayor spilling the beans. All that happened in that church was Lester acting suspicious.
