Greatest movie of all time, in my view

It has been my favorite movie for years. The garish costumes, the odd dialogue, there is something very different about this movie. Citizen Kane, no, but I think this movie is still my favorite! There are too many cool sequences and funny parts to ignore it!

If you are ever around these "types" --and I have been-- you'll find that the "costumes , dialogue" aren't a joke, it's very real.

And the dialogue: "you're just as bad as the mob!" "No, the mafia is run by murdering, thieving, lying, cheaters. We work for the President of the United States"
And I love the clothes, and the big hair, and Michelle Pfeiffer's New York accent. It's silly, and cheesy, but it's _supposed_ to be!

This movie can be funny, I agree. But it has countless flaws that earned it the "6" it currently holds in IMDB.
Modine is the biggest flaw: he's not believable in anything he does (the final action scenes are embarassing to say the least).
Also the plot is pretty weak: Demme even forgets about the kid from a certain point on!
The visuals of eighties is invaluable, though!

I don't think Demme "forgot" the kid. what else would he do in the movie? He was just there to show Michelle as a struggling single mom.
