The filmmakers couldn't find someone believably sexy? Anyone but Matthew Modine. There's nothing about him remotely sexy. I'd rather have seen him die as the husband and Alec Baldwin be the FBI agent. MUCH MORE believable. Modine is a character actor, period.

I don't think she wanted someone sexy. Coming from the mob she just wanted a nice safe guy.
shareYeah I didn't particularly like Modine in this movie, but I did think his character represented exactly the kind of guy Angela would've been looking for at that point in her life. So his casting didn't take me out of the movie.

It irkes me that ppl consider Tom Cruise sexy or strikingly handsome. Honestly, I don't think he's either of the two. He's short, has a parrot nose, crazy eyes. I just never understood the appeal with him. Mathew Modine is boy next door cute. I think he's handsome and charming.
