Jane Child.....

Hey I quite liked this movie.
Good performances by Modine, Stockwell, and
some nice supporting ones by Alec Baldwin, Oliver
Platt, and Buster Poindexter.
This movie has an amazing song by Jane Child
called "Welcome to the Real World". It took me
about 10 years to track it down, it is NOT on
the soundtrack by the way.
Listen to it if you ever get a chance.
Cheers.

I came to this site today specifically to get soundtrack information. I think that song by Jane Child, 'Welcome to the real world' is AWESOME. I'm a music fanatic and I too have been trying to find out what that song is for YEARS.

Thank God for this website.

I was looking in Borders for years for the soundtrack - nice to at least know it wasn't on the soundtrack.

It has great music - it's a fun, campy early 90's flick. Some people try to take it too seriously and miss the point.

Cheers back

Hey NewTracy,
Glad to hear I have helped you out in the
song department. I don't want people looking
for stuff as long as I have.
And yes the song does rock! It's off of her
first album. Good luck finding it, I think
you have to check used places, it is out of
print where I live.
Cheers.

I FOUND IT! And it is now on my iPod - eeeeeeee!!! hahaha... yes, I'm a bit of a fruitcake when it comes to finally owning something I've been searching for, for this long.

I have it in mp3 format. If you want to I'd be happy to get the file to you - as long as you're not some kind of psycho. ;-)

Hey Tracey,
Glad to hear you have the song now! Doesn't it feel
great when you find something hard to find! Like a
lost treasure.
Sure you can send it if ya want, how does it work?
I just got a computer.....do you need my e-mail
or something?
And last I checked I was not a psycho.
Allright.

Hello moviefiend...

Had a horrible F.T. job that was consuming all my waking hours. Sorry I didn't respond sooner.

I could try sending you the mp3, or I could always burn it to a disc and send it through traditional mail. I'm a mom who happens to be a music and film fanatic, but I'm not psycho either. (last I checked) hehehe...

I'd be happy to get it to you - after all, you helped me find it! :)

Hey Tracy,
Thanks for responding.
What city/country do you live in?
I live in Vancouver, Canada.
Allright.

reply

I'm in the U.S.

I live in a suburb about 30 minutes outside of Chicago. Ha, I thought you were a Brit! My parents were in Vancouver about 2 years ago... took a beautiful train ride from Michigan right through Vancouver. My mom said it was absolutely gorgeous.

I was going to post about "Welcome to the Real World", however, since you already have a post, I'll tag along.

I was stationed in Okinaway in 90-91, when Jane's video (Don't want to fall in love) was getting major airplay and tv time. Most internet sites today state that she followed up that hit with Welcome to the Real World, which I find odd, since it was on the 1988 movie, Married to the Mob, which means it was probably recorded in 87, a full 5 years before it hit the charts.

I remember when I first seen the Matrix, I thought of this song when Morpheus "welcomes" Neo to the "Real World".

"Welcome to the Real World", I like. I like her other hit "I Don't Want To Fall In Love". What happened to her? The song played at the end during the credits, I can't think of the name but, the new Reese's commercial plays the instrumental. I love that song.

Damn!! My posts attract so many nutty B-A-S-T-A-R-D-S!

It must obviously be an unreleased early version (the song wasn't released until late 1989), it is a bit different to the released version, wish we could find that mix! Jane's debut album was really good, a shame she fell into obscurity so quickly.
