Other actors who would have made an excellent Matt Cordell?

I have to say that I think one of the big positives of this movie is the performance of Robert Z'Dar. Granted, the part of Matt Cordell is almost totally based upon physicality and not much verbal acting, but I thought Z'Dar was sensational in the role. His imposing physical stature and body language really added to the mystery and sheer menace surrounding the Cordell character.

I know many critics will say that anyone could play such a role but I believe physical acting and body language can be just as important, especially if the role hinges upon it. It is difficult to think of any other actor playing Cordell other than Z'Dar but if history had worked out differently, I think Gunnar Hansen would have made an awesome Maniac Cop. When you think about it, his defining portrayal of Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is very similar to that of Cordell in relation to the emphasis on creating a character through physicality and strong body language. I always remember being totally freaked out by the movie and Leatherface was a big part of that!

I could picture Gunnar Hansen as Matt Cordell and I think it would have been an interesting casting alternative. Does anyone else have any other ideas for who would have made an awesome Maniac Cop?
