Agreed, not the greatest film ever but damn i watched this so many times during my childhood - whos with me :)

Probably one of the few people who agree with you. I had an obsession with this movie when I was little. Couldn't tell you what fascinated me about this movie. I just LOVED it. It could have been the special bond the boy had for the alien creature. I honestly couldn't tell you.
