I remember seeing movie posters or maybe even a trailer back when it first came out & was slightly interested in seeing it but never did. So is it just a rip off of E.T. And was it good ??

It kind of "Nickelodeon TV gets McDonalds and Coca Cola to rip off E.T."

Not to mention that the protagonist's older brother is named Michael.

I haven't seen this movie as an adult, but I loved it as a kid. It may have been a little ET-esque, but I don't remember thinking "hey this is an ET ripoff".
