I never realized this movie was Speilberg and Lucas...my friend and I saw this On Demand and, for nostalgia's sake chose to watch it (we're both 17, well I will be in 5 days) and I was shocked when I saw the names of the Jurassic park and star wars guys. Then we watched the movie, and after crying when Littlefoot's mother dies and then absolutely losing it when he chases his own shadow, I realized how great the quality of this movie truly was. This generation is really lacking movies such as this, they have this jonas crap and disney sluts and are missing out on quality, heartfelt films.

You'd be surprised what Speilberg's name is on. I'm not bragging but it is basically on all my favourite children's movies and television shows (as well as Bluth's name). He did everything that was worth watching. Emphasis on was (this transformers stuff is terrible).

And you are totally right about this generation. I'm only 5 years older than my brother (he is 12) so we are basically the same generation but when the movie was finished he said, "That was Terrible! Nothing happened." But I wasn't surprised because this is the same child who watches suite life of zack and cody and wizards of waverly place. It is very depressing thinking about how my children won't have the same quality films as there use to be and grow up with such useless crap.
