Littlefoot's motives? (spoilers)

Towards the end of the film Littlefoot has (The) Sharptooth killed, what where his motives?

Sharptooth had attacked the five on various occasions and during the journey he was a threat to them all. He was also involved in the death of Littlefoot's mother.

The five where almost at the Great Valley, which protects Dinosaurs from dinosaurs like Sharptooth, so soon he would no longer be of any threat to them, plus I don't think he even knew they where near by in that scene. Until Ducky was sent to be "bait", he wasn't even after them at that point (I know he was during the rest of the film).

I personally think Littlefoot's motives here where purley revenge based - because of his mother. What do you all think of this?

I think you're so totally off base it's not funny. Littlefoot's only motive was self defense. It has more in common with school children standing up to a bully than is does with "having the Sharptooth killed" (which sounds like ordering an assassination).

Witty closing remarks have been replaced by massive head trauma and severe hemorrhaging.

Firstly I am a fan of this film, and I didn't mean to offend anyone.

I get what you are saying though, I was just wondering because at the time the five weren't under threat and, they would have been protected soon.

But you are probably right as it as it is more becoming to the film,

You didn't offend, I have a tendency of being overly blunt.

They didn't know they were any where near the Great Valley. They just didn't want the Sharptooth hunting them anymore. Has nothing to do with revenge.

Nevermore

"he Great Valley, which protects Dinosaurs from dinosaurs like Sharptooth"

I don't recall that being mentioned in the film....but, yea they totally had it in for that jerkmonkey sharptooth and took his arse down!

reply

it was mentioned in the second film

And I will get him back even as he gloats. In the meantime I'll practice on less honorable throats!

Some of us refuse to accept the sequels as canon. :P

They didn't know they were any where near by as clearly shown in the part where Little Foot is telling the Cloud that resembles his mother that he doesn't think they can make it and he is about to give up. They simply killed the Sharp tooth because he was a reoccurring threat to their lives. Although, I think it gives the viewer satisfaction that the murderer got what was coming to them.

In the original ending littlefoot knew the sharptooth was on his way to the great valley (but due to cuts he couldn't have known the great valley was there), so they had to get rid of him.

This I also believe is the reason.
