how is this: trivia on this site said that something scenes (19 of them) WERE DELETED And could cause "psychological damage" to some "Young children. WHAT KIND OF SCENES. THAT IS SOOO REDICIOULOUS! what scenes do you think were deleted. THEY ALSO SAID TOO FRIGHTENING!

sadest part of the movie was Littlefoot's mother dying.

Several scenes of "Sharptooth" attacking other dinosaurs were either cut out or edited so as not be as violent and scary for young children.

Also a scene where the Sharptooth gets hit directly in the eye by the thorn of a plant was edited.

In the finished film you still see him sort of get hit by the branch and later his eye looks injured, but the graphic thorn in the eye moment was cut.

You see in a shadow the sharptooth biting a chunk of flesh from a dinosaur, but it only suggested in the shadows, not directly shown.

Other scenes deemed too scary for young children were also removed. The producers ultimately wanted a G rated family film. As it is, some scenes remain quite scary or sad for young children but that is likely why the film strikes such an emotional chord with so many people.

Apparently this footage was misplaced or lost when the Bluth studios in Ireland was shut down. Maybe someone has them in a box ina basement somewhere.
Who knows, maybe Bluth will someday release a PG13 rated director cut.

A big chunk of the deleted footage isn't even remotely scary, but for some stupid reason removed. Like on the theatrical version spike hatching scene is only about 1/3 of the full one, or when they find the food, a conversation is edited out, and before that a full scene where some dinos are guarding food and they don't let them have it.

And when Cera splits up from the group before they kill sharptooth, the full scene is just removed. The reason for this is the removal of Littlefoot's early discovery of the great valley after battling with Cera, but why that scene was removed I have no idea. It was just Littlefoot walking alone for a while being all like "pfft I don't need them", then the mom's ghost scene appeared, and after partying a while at the waterfall he realizes he needs to get his friends and arrives just in time like in the cut edition.

Suposedly the five where all going to die, and then it would be explained that the "Great Valley" is really Heaven.

I really don't see how this would be concidered "frightening" even with kids concerend. I'm pretty sure that the people involved in the film have confirmed this is not true, but I can't say for certain.

Bluth was certainly known for not holding things back in his films All Dogs go to Heaven also had some footage cut to avoid a PG-PG-13 rating that's really one of things that I love about his movies Bluth never painted that life was happy. Life is full of tragedy and hardships but with love, courage, and determination we can overcome the tragedy. Truly a great message for children to learn young. I would also certainly love to see this footage released.

"a rumor was spread that all five of the young dinosaurs died, with the Great Valley as an interpretation of heaven, as one of the deleted scenes. However, this has been denied by Don Bluth, who said the ending used was always the intended one."
