Dinosaurs changing colors throughout the movie

Petrie's head and wings are brown, and his torso is grey throughout most of the movie. Then the scene where he learns to fly, he changes to entirely tan (or maybe it's very light green). Then after he emerges from the water after being pulled under by the sharptooth, he is brown and grey again. Ducky also goes from tan to green.

I think those were suppose to be lighting effects on their skin tones. For example, in a bright sunny environment, Littlefoot's skin is shown as a yellowish tan color, but in darker environments or at night his skin tone becomes more of a dark grayish purple.
