Watched as kid, then re-watched as an adult...

So I remember this movie from back when I was a kid in the 80's/early 90's. I remember it being haunting and kind of gave you the creeps. It was one of those movies you just kind of watched, even though you didn't necessarily enjoy it. Well last year around Halloween, my family decided to bust it out for old time's sake. My wife is there with me and my younger siblings. I hadn't really remembered it at all except for a few parts; like being locked in the closet, the little girl, the ghost woman, and the song. Well damned if I hadn't realized that the whole thing is a about a child molester grooming kids, molesting them, and killing them! My wife was so grossed out at the plot, and it left me thinking "why the hell would my parents let me watch this when I was a kid??"

But hey, kids just dealt with darker stuff back then in their films. Think of other movies like "An American Tale." It's every kid's nightmare--being separating from your parents and lost, and being in a depressing, scary place.

Anyone else have an experience like this?

80s movies had balls.

That's why I still like watching them; they're one of a kind.

That's why I love 80's movies

The scene that sticks in my mind more now is when he is helping him aim and shoot that arrow. You can clearly see it's all about making it obvious he is getting off on it. Went over my head as a kid but only just re-watched and realized what it was about.

This is definitely not a movie for kids.

Poorly Lived and Poorly Died, Poorly Buried and No One Cried

Id show this to my kids.

The R rating for this movie- that's got to be the reason. This aired on HBO in the late 80's/early 90's, and I know I saw air in the morning/afternoon, as I know to this day HBO rarely airs anything R rated before 8 pm on the main channel.

Why do they give out letter jackets to marching band? It's not a sport! We all know it!
