What's That Song? (obscure)

Heard a song in the store today that brought me right back to this movie. Isaac Hayes (Hammer)was singing along with the radio in the car while Jim Brown (Slammer) was complaining about his bunion.

I started cracking up in the store because it's a really fast-paced soul song ("shedigginit, digginit, digginitdigginitdigginit, whoo hoo") and hearing Isaac Hayes singing it in a falsetto while he drove was hilarious.

I MUST have this song, but I don't think it was in the soundtrack, or even credited...is there some pop/soul music savant out there that knows what it is?

Answering my own question here. The song is the 1969 soul hit "Grazing in the Grass" by Friends of Distinction. The actual conversation from the movie between Hammer and Slammer is on the MGM offical site of the movie, along with other memorable quotes. It's just as funny as I remember it.

The kicker is Jim Brown produced that record for the Friends of Distinction. I'm old, I have the album!
