High Tide out of print?

I was recommended this film but have not been able to find a copy. My local library says it is out of print. Does anyone know if it will be released on DVD soon?

reply

I have it on VHS and have been looking for the DVD, but I do not know if it is available yet. I'd like to have it on disc.

Definitely on DVD now in Australia at least. A great movie, with great acting from both Judy Davis & Jan Adele, who was better know as a comic.

reply

Judy Davis was amazing! I would love to have the movie on DVD.

I have it on VHS, have never found it yet on DVD. By all means- see it. Not a chick flick, but maybe the best woman's film ever made. All three leads are excellent, but it is Judy Davis's movie all the way.

Every woman should watch this with her freinds, daughters, mothers, etc. We guys can get something out of it, too.

Wonderful ending, too.

But, I am biased: I Love Judy Davis.

This is a wonderful, lovely film. I adore it. Judy Davis gives one of the greatest performances of her career, but Jan Adele and especially young Claudia Karvan were also great. It remains Gillian Armstrong's finest directorial achievement to date.

reply

Amen!

I would argue it is a perfect film.

What a great ending!

(PS- am watching the other Davis/Armstrong collaboration, "My Brilliant Career." Judy Davis has got to be one of the best actresses of this or any other generation. Lucky Colin to have her all to himself...)

I bought this on VHS for $1.50 in the clearance bin of a record store. Unfortunately, my tape is tightly wound and the picture is "squiggly," but still watchable. This is a true find, and Judy Davis is superb in this -- as she is in all her films.

I've got this on VHS as well. Great film.
As far as I know, there is no DVD release to be found anywhere in North America.

Several VHS copies available currently on Amazon.com.

Recently purchased a copy (VHS) in excellent condition through Amazon. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Judy Davis excellent as ever.

Movies like this are why a good regionless player is a GREAT investment. It's on DVD in Australia in it's correct aspect ratio (which obviously will not be the case with your old VHS copies). Luckily however, the director's excellent film Starstruck was released on DVD here in America. I HATE musicals and to this day that film is the only musical I can stomach. In fact, I love it.
