I always feel bad for the bear...

When they shoot it in the ass and it runs off moaning in pain, I always end up feeling really bad for it.
Is it just me?

reply

Not at all, I just watched it and feel real bad for that poor bear.

reply

That poor bald headed killer bear of Clare County...

Merry Christmas ya filthy animal.

reply

I did feel sorry for it, but I had to laugh at the big bare bear bum.

reply

I felt bad for it, but I always laugh when it's ass gets blown clean (even the tail is blown off :( ), revealing a fairly human looking ass underneath. Frankly it's a little odd not a single shred of bullet hits it.

You have a point: it's more like the effect a blank might have.

And I stood where I did be; for there was no more use to run; And again I lookt with my hope gone.

I see it like this the shotgun lamp may have had a shell in it but for how long had it been in there? It could have been sitting there for 30 years. And while i dont know the chemical degredation rate of gunpowder I imagine the blast did not come out full force. Which is why it got its butt shaved as opposed to being riddled with buckshot holes.

Just my take on it though for all i know gunpowder does not ever weaken over time.

"Merry Christmas ya filthy animal"

Great quote!

From Home Alone 2 right?

reply

I didn't when I was a kid cause I always thought that scene was hilarious but I haven't seen this movie in years and I can picture me feeling sorry for the bear today

reply

huge fan of the bear.

It still makes me laugh but with sadness. The huge butt is pretty funny though.

reply

Nope, it's not just you. Since I was a boy, I've always felt sorry for the bear too.

Lucky John didn't use a .308 rifle or higher caliber, .30-06, .303, 7.62 X 54r, .338, etc., since he used a shot gun he only gave the bear a much needed Haircut & Butt Cut. Lucky for the bear...

My family used to watch this when I was little, and every time the bear got shot in the butt I would cry hysterically. I was so offended that my family found it funny. The sound the bear makes is awful, but I guess now that I'm older, it's a little teensy bit funny.

I feel bad for it because of the way it runs off and the sound it makes but I laugh too because its' human looking butt just gets me everytime.

Semper fi, sissy britches!

reply

I thought it was hilarious and very light hearted. It just got it's fur blown off

reply

Exact same here. That awkward, inverted cry as it's running away is so off-putting. Tough mix with the hilarious image of it's bare as jiggling into the night. Would've been interesting to be in a theater to see how the crowd reacted. I always kind of wince/laugh.

I saw this movie at the drive in and at a local cinaplex and in both cases you could hear the laughter quite clearly. Even at the drive in with everyone in their cars i could still people in cars near us crackin up. Maybe because its so damn funny lol. Big white human lookin butt bouncing with each bound LOL

Just watched this again after it being(excuse the pun)years in the wilderness,
and remembered what a great actor Bart was.
The beautiful Kodiak was a star feature in the movies`The Bear`,Legends of the Fall`and `The Edge`....sadly he died in May of this year.

reply

aw i had no idea this was the same bear as in the movie "the bear". i loved that movie.

and yes - i was just watching this with my husband last night and i said "i can't watch him getting shot!" i hate the pitiful sounds he makes and how he runs off in pain.

reply

the exposed ass cheeks are pretty funny, but the how he instantly jumps out and runs and moans/cries like that.. damn thats rough.
