great little comedy, underrated

this is one of them movies that i can watch every time it's on and it never gets old. It might not be LOL hilarious or anything, but it's damned fun and has heart....

Watching it now for the umpteenth time; a really funny movie that is underrated by those who love to pan Chevy chase or comedies that are not all about sex or race or toilet humor or they like to dismiss it as another "fish out of water" movie - all cliche`s in themselves.

Too bad for them cause it's a good funny movie with some serious thought to it on many levels about relationships and life.

Love them Lamb fries.

A really endearing film- I saw it when it was new and I cannot quit seeing it whenever they air it. I love in particular the end - When Chevy's voice explained what happened... and then backing the credits, the splendid music of John Philip Sousa --- which at the very end changes to a short strophe of a march whose name I dont remember - The very, very end of the film;s credits. I had heard it in the Doc Savage film of about the same time. Does anyone know the name

It's called "The Washington Post March".

Everytime this movie is on, I watch it. It is freakin' hilarious. I love the Cthe parts during Christmas when they try to sell the house.

This movie I have in my collection. I just loved it.
Sweet subtle comedy, that doesnt have to be outrageous or low-brow
to be funny. Where are more movies like this?

I find myself laughing out loud at a few parts everytime I watch it. Chevy singing, "Joy!" when the rest of them are finished singing. And when the first dog runs away. And the mailman's laugh of course.

"Rental?"
"I just bought it"

"Now the whole world's gonna know that you died scratching my balls"

I was watching it today and loved the movie when I saw it in the theater when I was young, it is a more popular then people may think because it was pretty big when it came out and everyone I Knew saw it and knew what I was talking about when I would joke about "lamb fries". Even today people still occasionally talk about it and alot of people have seen it because it was such a well done and memorable movie, one of Chevy Chase's best.

I absolutely agree. I don't buy many dvd's, but last week I just broke down and bought Funny Farm because it's great to have around when you need to forget about a hard day.

I agree. This is a favorite of my family, and we often watch it around Christmas time (because of the latter part of the movie), and we think it's hilarious. I was surprised when I came on here and it has a dang 5.5. I'm not saying it deserves to be in the top 250 or anything, but 5.5?!
