I'm not sure because i havent watched the film in a while, but i think its either a MG TD or maybe a old morgan or caterham
shareYou got it MG TD... a beautiful car!
shareGreat! Is it a "Midget"?
shareNo, it is not a Midget. The model is a TD. MG had models like: A, B, C, B-GT, etc...
shareYup, and the "Midget" was a model introduced in the 70's to compeet with other very little British sports cars like the Austin Sprite and Triumph Spitfire. The Midget was very small.
shareAs in most movies, they had two of them. Speaking of cars, I was in Townshend Vt the night they shot the police car rolling into the tree and was watching as they rigged it for the driver to be laying on his stomach steering it and Chevy Chase stopped by and I got to deliver the line of my life. "Your Chevy Chase and I'm not"
shareActually you are both right. the car is a MGTD "Midget" series. The A,B,C ect series MG models were all Midget series productions, as this distinguished them from the Saloon (sedan) type cars. However, in the 1960's, BMC did offer a convertable reviving the "midget" name as a standalone model.
shareSorry folks, there is some good information in many of the above replies. The car was indeed an MG Midget, one of the 'T' series Midgets, TA through TF. However, it was not a TD, but the MG TF, the last of the 'T' series, that was in the movie. Believe me, I had a 1954 TF. The TF was produced from about 1953 to 1955. It is impossible from viewing the movie to tell what year TF it was. The only significant difference between the years was engine size, which grew from 1250 cc to 1500 cc. Great little cars, the 'T' series Midgets, and the one in the movie was a beautiful example. The same exterior color as mine, but the seats in the movie car were a lighter color.
