cool movie but
the ending sucked
shareAgree, horrible ending.
shareWell, given the meaning of the title, no other ending was possible.

The movie had to end the way that it did. The character of Matt Larkin was a condescending prick with commitment issues and Jewel manipulated and used people only to resent them for behaving the way she wanted them to. In the end, Jewel showed some maturity by saying "thank you" to Larkin, though Larkin didn't really learn anything at all except that, of all his friends, he ended up alone. I think the ending was not only apropos, but also a nice counterpoint to most 80s teen flick endings.
