Full size copy of Statue of Liberty

When Harrison Ford wakes up on the barge, he sees a copy of the Statue of Liberty. I'm assuming that this exists in real life in France...What is the statue called?

reply

it does exist, i believe there was a french conection with s.o.l. and this was some kind of mock up. there is an even smaller version in either champs de mars or parc luxambourg

You see, in the end, our truest opinions are not the ones we have never changed...

reply

"was some kind of mock up" ????? !!!! huh ?

"The people of France gave the Statue to the people of the United States over one hundred years ago in recognition of the friendship established during the American Revolution. Over the years, the Statue of Liberty's symbolism has grown to include freedom and democracy as well as this international friendship."

"A smaller-scale copy of the Statue of Liberty is found in Paris, France, where it stands on an island in the river Seine, looking towards the Atlantic Ocean and hence towards its "larger sister" in New York Harbor."

There is a replica at the Jardin Du Luxembourg which was a prepatory model for the one given to New York.

Its that man again!!

Many of the "bateau mouche" trips on the Seine will take you to see this statue. Try it next time you're in Paris!

reply

yeah the original statue of liberty was actualy built in paris, not the united states.
