Frantic needs to be elevated to Criterion, new Widescreen transfer, etc

Frantic is truly Polanki's seminal work - critics rave about Chinatown, but Frantic seems to be forgotten.

I am thinking we need a new Digital transfer of Frantic. The Pan Scan DVD exiting is really grainy. What say about a Criterion edition???

I love "Frantic" too. I picked up a region 2 dvd (1.85:1) at Kim's in downtown NYC. If you're out of town, you can probably find it online.

I am sorry that it's pan/scan, although I recall the original movie being grainy, I believe it was Polanski's intent. I love this film, wish Harrison had made a few more like it.

I definitely find it a more emotional experience than Chinatown, and regard it more highly than The Tenant.

From the looks of this board, it definitely has potential to come back as a cult classic or more, when all's said and done. This is like Polanski's Vertigo - I think having the Walker's home be San Francisco is definitely a nod to Hitchcock's masterpiece.

If you happen to have an all-region dvd player, the UK and French releases of this are widescreen.
