Give me my WIDESCREEN!!!

I bought Frantic a long time ago and was crushed when I saw that it was P&S. I just assumed that anything having to do with Polanski would be in letterbox format. That's the last time I bought a movie without checking. I know it's probably been said a 100 times already, but when are they going to put this out in letterbox format?

And while they're at it, how about doing the same for Matewan and Arthur?

I'll never understand why everybody is in love with widescreen format. It just looks like somebody chopped off the bottom and top of the movie, which I find distracting most times.

The key to enjoying the widescreen format is to look at what's in the picture, now what's around it. Widescreen replicates the aspect ratio of the movie as it was presented in the movie theater. It contains roughly 50% more visual information. This is exactly why HDTV screens have the same aspect ratio as movie theater screens. Granted, this is more important for some movies than with others, but overall I would say more is better.

Um. no no, in full screen someone actually DID chop off parts of the picture...which I find more than distracting, it's downright offensive.

"Hey, excuse me, since people are uneducated in film, do you mind if I just remove half the image from your film even though it totally changes and distorts the compositions you originally intended the audience to see?"

Thank GOD Pan and Scan is fading. Oh, and don't like black bars? Get an HDTV or invent a 2.35:1 TV.

I watched it tonight and it was the widescreen BluRay version,so there is a cinematic version available now.

It looked awesome too! First time I have seen it look so good, because the first time I saw it was on VHS in the late 80s or early 90s and of coarse on a small Tv on VHS you dont get much detail!

But this was so nice to see tonight, such a beatiful looking film!
