Worst movie ever

Is this the worst movie ever?

I have rated over 1500 movies on IMDb and this is the only one I could give an honest 1/10.

Your wrong, just wrong.

i dont know maybe i dont think its so bad cus i hold a lot of fond memories with it

Well, it's definitely not a "deep" movie with hidden meanings, or whatever. It's just a simple, sweet story that brings back a lot of nice memories.

I have rated over 1100 movies, that doesnt make me have no life. It merely means that somone likes to watch movies. Now about the second part it is strange that a person who have seen such amount of movies would give this a 1, but everyone is entitled to his opinion. personally there are only a counple movies i rated 1, and both of them are far worse than this.

This movie is not the best movie ever, but its better than alot of movies
nowdays. It doesn't have sexual content, profanity, or tons of violence.
It does have a good story, plus its just a fun movie.
Jim Varney should still be alive!!!!!

reply

I also have a problem with films that are to profane and violent, however I have no problem with sex in films if it is done tastefully and intelligently

reply

Are you implying that sex, profanity, and violence are a modern thing that didn't exist back in 1988? I hate to burst your bubble, but the 80s weren't so innocent either, and there are probably fewer R rated movies now than there were then. It's harder to get into R rated movies if you're underage and no kids = fewer ticket sales.

Have you seen every movie made?

reply

Nah, this ain't the worst movie ever. It is silly and predictable, but essentially it is a fun and engaging Christmas comedy. There are much worse movies out there, namely any of the Friedberg-Seltzer spoof movies, Home Alone 4, Superbabies:Baby Geniuses 2 and NeverEnding Story 3.

no, Disaster Movie!

It is definately not the worst movie ever made. That would be "Monster Mash" with Candice Cameron or "Going Overboard" with Adam Sandler. Ernest Saves Christmas is actually a great movie. I'd love to know what constitutes a terrible movie to you. I watched it again just now and thought about the modern formula for popular cinema: sex, profanity, absurd violence, but mostly young morons trying desperately to have empty sex. Find any unenlightened young man and try to have a conversation with him and it sounds like he's reciting the rough draft of the American Pie script. I think it's terrible that it has not only become the standard, but also expected to see degenerates glorified and hailed as comedy kings. It's cheap and easy, and if you're mind is more developed it's not even funny. That may seem out of line, but it's discouraging to think about what's influencing the youth of America these days. It's entirely possible to write a smart, funny movie with sentiment and wit, but writers want to get paid and make something marketable, so everyone is contributing to and responsible for the decline of quality in movies.

Even though this is 3 months late, I couldn't have said it better myself. 'Ernest' movies automatically get the highest rating from me because of Jim Varney and because they were void of the filth you see in just about every movie today. I have seen the 'stars' and I ask myself, "Are these people the ones children look up to and aspire to be?" No wonder our society has sucked worse than ever. The majority of celebs are usually in trouble; their money is either being snorted, injected, or stuffed into the G-string of some random woman. Comedy today isn't what it used to be. Most think that they have to lace every show with terrible language, degrading remarks and tons of sexual content. Those comedians come and go. I have been a fan of Varney's since I was about 7 when I first saw his Sprite and Mello Yello ads. I'm almost 35 now and he is still my hero. It seems movies nowadays aren't considered unless there's either nudity or skimpy clothes, sex, violence, and way too much foul language. I don't even go to movies any more. I have quite a Jim Varney collection and I can sit back and thoroughly enjoy good quality shows. Too bad Varney isn't alive today. Actors could learn a lot from him. They still could take a cue from the Varney page of personality and attitude. As they say: "The good ones dies first." And 'Ernest' said it best: "A sad commentary to our disintegrating society, KnoWhutImean?" ('Ernest Goes to Jail'). You're right: a truly developed mind would be able to see past all that supposed comedy to find it shallow and lacking any real depth of humor. Take away the sex talk and dirty language, and you got no show. 'Ernest' movies may have been simplistic but they had a strong moral backbone, and still managed to be funny without being dirty.

Hey, you want a truly bad movie? Watch "Sisterhood". That movie was the most mind numbing movie I've ever seen. My sister wanted me to watch it because I'm into vampire lore. Turns out, it was a joke. I literally felt my IQ drop. Thankfully, I have classic novels and Ernest to help put my mind back in order. I don't know, you might like "Sisterhood". It is a poor excuse for porn if you ask me. But, guys might get into it because of the slutty, brain dead girls.
Now that is the worst movie ever!!

I'll assuming you aren't trolling (if you are, feel free to ignore this message): What do you dislike about it?

I think it's pretty damned solid.
