Anyone else notice the sticker in the cab, I think its when he opens the glove compartment, it says "Keep Christ in Christmas" I would love to know if that was Jim Varney's doing, or who made the effort to get that in there? I just think its interesting.
You know, I've wondered that same thing...I've heard that Jim Varney was a Christian (although I have no idea if that's true or not), so it could've been him...
I was watching this movie last nite (for about the millionth time) and I just noticed that sticker. I thought that was very cool, and I too wondered if Jim had anything to do with it. Its prominent position definitely seemed like they wanted it emphasized...Jim Varney was the greatest! He will always be apart of my childhood.
You know not to be rude but I'm not sure I would call it's position prominent since so many people hadn't noticed it, you yourself say you've seen it several times and just now noticed it. That being said it peobably was Jim as a little set prop that Ernest probably would have in his cab.

Well, if you paid attention you would have noticed dozens or hundreds of stickers and props all over Ernest's taxi, truck, and house. I suspect that the producers included any Christmas items that remotely related to Christmas.
Note that he has a snow globe stuck on his steering wheel so that snow flies whenever he turns the wheel.
That sticker you noticed was just one of hundreds of props.

Sorry I'm late, but yes. Some people are too stupid to know that the symbol is chi and not the letter X, and that chi has long represented 'Christ'. So they have made up the so-called explanation that 'Xmas' is the invention of non-Christians, who are hell bent on removing 'Christ' from 'Christmas'.
Some people like to blow things out of proportion because they are very, very stupid. Especially in America.
I don't give much credibility to someone who touts intellectual superiority on a movie message board, but knock yourself out, superstar. Just don't give yourself carpal tunnel syndrome patting yourself on the back.

It might have been Varney's doing. Yes, he was a Christian but, of course, he had troubles. Don't we all? But, he definitely loved God and tried to be the best he could be and live up to God's standards. I'm so glad he kept that in his Ernest movies and didn't stray. We need more clean movies like these. Of course, they'll never be as good as Varney's. It's good to see he had a lot of faith.
I noticed that sticker this time around, and instinct told me that Jim Varney was behind it.
I think it's one thing to be PC, but I don't understand why a person isn't supposed to express his/her beliefs. You can't learn about & appreciate other people's differences if they can't express themselves.
Jim Varney was a very devout Christian and was very vocal about it- he often did appearances at churches and religious organizations. A rare beast in Hollywood. Billy Dee, the fat dude with the buggy eyes in all Varney's movies, has a website about him that explains a lot. Also I personally remember him talking about Jesus on some show that he co-hosted once (think it was a monster truck match or wrestling match or something lol don't remember).
I found the sticker kind of interesting considering this film is about Santa Claus. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the term "keep Christ in Christmas" originally created as a backlash to the crazy commercialism of this time of year? What's more commercialized than Santa Claus?
