It is a movie, and people are stupid worldwide... It is not limited to one country. Trust me! I have been in over 40 of them....

I've heard of (successful) RL scams that were "dumber" and less elaborate than the ones portrayed in this movie.

As a con-artist, I think it's not so much about the story you're selling, but rather about *how* you're selling it. That's why it's called a "confidence trick".
