Because Christmas is about violence and explosions, right?
shareA lot of people consider this a Christmas movie and make a tradition of watching it.
shareIt was released in July 1988. And there is a thing such as Christmas in July.
shareChristmas in July is one of my favorite screwball comedy films. The scene when Dick Powell first meets Raymond Walburn might be the funniest thing I've ever seen.
Also, Die Hard isn't a Christmas film anymore than any other film that happens to be set at Christmas time is such. I think Less Than Zero was set around Christmas, as was Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, and probably dozens of other films. Christmas doesn't factor into the theme or story of the film. It's fine that some people make a tradition of watching it in December, but...
This movie came out during the summer of 88 FFS!
