Die Hard is one of the best movies ever.

The original Die Hard movie is one of the best movies ever made. Not only in the action genre, but in general.

The action movie genre is often considered as a stupid genre, with stupid men as the target audience.

But Die Hard is an exception to that rule. As movie fanatics, we could always say, when someone says that action movies are dumb: 'yes, it's true, but have you seen Die Hard? That is an action movie done right'

It is well made with a good story and believable characters. It has action (obviously), but also humor, emotion, drama and (important!) a lead character that is a real human being. He's in pain, he's filthy, he's tired, his shirt is bloody. It also has one of the best classy villains ever. RIP Alan!

It is sometimes compared with Speed, because supposedly Speed is also considered a 'good' action movie. Speed is OK, but nowhere as brilliant as Die Hard.

Die Hard 2 was ok and enjoyable. Die Hard 3 was better in my opinion.

4 and 5 are stupid PG13 mediocre movies, aimed at kids and stupid people. Remove the words Die Hard and give John McClane another name, and those movies would be forgotten already.

And now, they are making a prequel.

WE DO NOT NEED AN ORIGIN STORY! No one wants another forgettable stupid, loud, plotless action movie aimed at kids and lunatics.

I agree. I think the first Die Hard was in a class of its own. I can watch it anytime its on TV. Wish they would rerun it at a theater as a classic, I would love to see it on the big screen. To me its like The Sting or The Godfather or Jaws. The 2nd film was also good. After that I lost interest. I would rather watch Die Hard than go see anything they have at the movies today. Today the plots are stale or bizarre and the acting is pitiful. Its all body counts and computer generated special effects. There are a few diamonds in the rough. But the 1970's - 1990's had the best films. The special effects were just getting good and the scripts and acting were at a higher level. Name me one modern film that would come close to Die Hard, Blade Runner, Back to the Future, Shawshank Redemption etc etc. Even the films that win awards today seem just "OK" to me. Some of the films I go see I now I will never want to watch again. They are ok for a couple of hours of entertainment, but they have nothing lasting to them.
