I Think This Is the Best of the Sequels

After getting really into Clints Westerns by Sergio Leone, I decided to check out his other signature role that being Harry Callahan. Sure enough Dirty Harry ended up being one wicked movie and it made me want to see the rest of the sequels.

Yet unfortunately I found most of them to be a complete letdown. I think Magnum Force simply had a lame plot that tried to be controversial about the legal system like the first one was. The Enforcer could have been really awesome if it was longer and took a bit of time to explain the terrorists actions as well as to give more of a relationship between Harry and his female partner because I honestly couldn't have cared less when she died. I haven't seen Sudden Impact yet and after seeing the first two sequels I was sure that I wouldn't even bother.

But now I definitely want to give it a chance like I did with The Dead Pool. For a movie that has such bad reviews other than Roger Ebert's, I'd have to say this was the only sequel I really liked. It's true, it didn't feel like a Harry movie. And all the more better for it. The writing about the commentary on the system only worked in the original and simply just got in the way of telling a good story in the sequels. The Dead Pool abandons that and just goes for being an entertaining movie. And that's what it did, it entertained, it had action and the best one liners since Dirty Harry. That's why I really want to see Sudden Impact, for the line "Go Ahead, Make My Day."

I'd rank the movies like this:
1)Dirty Harry
2)The Dead Pool
3)The Enforcer
4)Magnum Force

Now to see Sudden Impact
