Eh? Isn't Eastwood 77 now? Bloody nora, it was bad enough that Charles Bronson did Death Wish V at 72.
shareI was just thinking of Death Wish 5. Dang, Bronson was old in that movie. He still kicked ass though!
shareI didn't care about Bronson's age. DEATH WISH 4 was my favorite in the series.

"Sin City" segment with Bruce Willis was loosely supposed to be a new final Dirty Harry movie.
But I agree. Would love to see one final official Dirty Harry movie. Hell, I mean if Rocky Balboa, John McClane, Rambo, Indiana Jones and soon Axel Foley are all coming back for one last hurrah, why not the original Dirty Harry.
My idea. The final Dirty Harry is about a retired Harry Callahan. There's a young cop which acts very much like Harry Callahan used to when he was in his age. Harry wants to pass on his skills and knowledge of the streets to this cop since he is having trouble with his boss, pretty much like Harry had.
Harry could save this new cops life on some occasion, but let's be realistic. Dirty Harry won't be able to beat up young punks at the age of 77. But we would still hear his no nonsence talk to whoever needed lecturing.
The young cop feels he's had enough of all the crap he sees every day and feels he's making no difference in the end. Harry explains that it was always like that.
Harry Callahan as a mentor for some cop sharing his view of life, but lacking in judgment and experience.
I'm all for another Dirty Harry film.
Yeah thats great guys, lets see if Bea Arthur and Angela Lansbury are available to play the love interests...
A mental mind *beep* can be nice.

And Betty White, Maureen O'Hara and Olivia de Haviland.
Janet! Donkeys!
Clint blew a chance to do one more when he did 2002's "Blood Work." Clint was in quite good shape when he made that film that could've been rewritten as a Dirty Harry film instead of the final product. He's waaaay too old now to do one more. He's now more interested in being a director than an actor at this point in his career. He thought about it in the 1990's but he thought that there wasn't anything that would lure Harry out of retirement to do one more case as the character retired a few years after "The Dead Pool."

London, Mar 21 (ANI): Clint Eastwood will be stepping into the role of tough cop Dirty Harry once again at the ripe old age of 77.
The actor played the role of Harold Francis "Dirty Harry" Callahan, a San Francisco Police Department inspector in five films in the series - Dirty Harry (1971), Magnum Force (1973), The Enforcer (1976), Sudden Impact (1983), and The Dead Pool (1988).
And, he's now set to return as the tough cop once again.
The movie will also mark the five times Academy Award winning actor's return to the big screen.
The movie will see Callahan coming out of retirement to avenge his grandson's murder.
A source revealed that the flick would be Eastwood's last action film.
"Clint sees this as his final action film. He's looking forward to playing Harry again. But it'll be realistic - he'll be an old man," The Sun quoted the insider, as saying. (ANI)

I honestly thought Blood Work could have been Dirty harry 6. I winced whenever someone called him TERRY instead of HARRY.

"Gran Torino" would have been the perfect goodbye I think.
They just had to change a few things around. Harry is a retired cop livin' in a *beep* neighborhood...after beating up some trouble making punks he becomes a reluctant hero to the community.
Things escalate and he has to face the punks one last time... and it should end the way GT did.
Great closing. More of a character study than an action film though.
Expanding on the idea of a younger version of Callahan.
A Scorpio Killer copycat is on the loose. A cop, much like Harry, is on the case. He seeks the retired Harry Callahan's help in capturing the killer, only Harry gets more involved than he is supposed to, also becoming like a fatherly figure to the young man.

Yes, it would be good to see another Dirty Harry but Clint Eastwood appears to have entered a well earned retirement from acting. However, with the right actor to play the part, he could convincingly direct it. Bruce Willis comes to mind but I think it would have to be someone younger, sorry Mr. Willis, and to whom Clint Eastwood, in a couple of appearances, could "pass the torch" and do some mentoring. Clint Eastwood said once that he felt he was done with Harry as far as acting is concerned.
shareI don't know if they would be able to pull it off, but a Dirty Harry movie about Harry's younger days, directed by Clint Eastwood.
A movie showing why Harry became such a tough cop, perhaps a cold blooded murder of his first partner.
That might be the way to kick it off since being Harry's partner was dangerous in itself. Maybe he got a lot of exposure to corruption in the city government and police department that that made him what he became. Another angle seen on Law and Order a lot is when they cops get someone dead to rights and have them all tied up with a ribbon and the Feds step in and pull rank and maybe the perp walks due to a deal that he/she made with the Feds. That could make any honest cop bitter.
