I agree. Bundy1 are you Australian? I have always wanted to ask someone from Australia how authentic her accent was. I have never seen Streep do a bad accent and she has done almost every type of accent I can think of.

reply

I'm Australian and it was the most accomplished imitation of an Australian accent I have seen on film. Streep was brilliant!

reply

i agree entirely... and i am too aussie

reply

yeah i am an aussie

reply

It was a very bad Aussie accent....because it was a Kiwi accent. Lindy was a Kiwi.

I find it hard to believe any of you lot are Aussies if you think that was a perfect Aussie accent.

There is no such thing as a perfect Australian accent.

Speaking as an Australian,
The accent is different from region to region, ranging from the more educated sounding city accent, to the bogan country accent.

Not no mention that everybody sounds different and occasionally mispronounces things themselves as real people.

Just get over it.
The accent was brilliant.

And even if it's not this "perfect" Aussie accent, it is one of the best done by an American.

Like I said, it was a Kiwi accent. She was portraying a Kiwi. Or didn't you read that far?

this really was the best accent she has ever taken on in a career of perfect and near perfect (Out of Africa, Dancing at Lughnasa) accents. Yeah you can tell it is someone who has learned to speak the dialect but as far as actors go she and Cate Blanchett do it the best.
