Do u guys think when Akeem gave Randolph and Mortimer that money they were trying to set up a sequel to "Trading Places" if they hadn't passed away, or maybe the Dukes learned their lesson.

There doesn't seem to be any evidence to suggest that it was anything but comic irony.

Murphy wrote this movie. It was a simple, but funny nod to one of his earlier movies.

I don't think so I think it was just meant to be a little cameo to give those character a bit of a better closure and to give fans of that movie a final laugh. Worked for me.

I think Eddie was just giving a nod to class discrimination in all its forms.

I don't think showing that the Dukes learned any lesson was the reason for the scene, but yes, we can still assume the Dukes did indeed learn their lesson. They went from being filthy rich to being just plain filthy. They were homeless and living in a box on the street eating scraps for food. It would appear from their condition that they had been that way for some time. That's pretty humbling when you consider from where they came. After they realized how much money they were given, they went out of their way to find Akeem to thank him.

I'd call them good.
