Feels like a drawn out 'Are You Afraid of the Dark?' episode

Seriously. I had been wanting to see this film for YEARS and never had the gall to buy it online because of the price, but all these years later I shelled out a ridiculous amount of money to buy it when I saw it at a used movie shop— seeing an actual physical copy of it ignited my interest in it and I couldn't resist. And honestly? It's really not that great of a movie. The acting is horrible even by horror standards, and there's not a lot going on here in terms of plot mechanics or anything else. It has an early '90s feel to it and it honestly felt like I was watching a feature-length episode of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" It's not that I hated the film, but I really feel like the mythology behind it and the obscurity factor that piqued my interest for all these years were kind of letdown, because the truth is it's not that great.

That said, it's so freaking rare that I'm glad I got it after all these years, especially since MGM will never release it to the public again. It's a good film to have for collectors like myself, but if you aren't a collector and are just merely interested in the film, I would NOT spend the money on it.

It does feel like an 'Are You Afraid of the Dark' episode. Minus the whole axe in the back. The clowns weren't menacing enough. If they were carrying knives it would have been a lot scarier. They were easy to knock out.

I agree that Clownhouse feels like a feature length episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark, but I personally like that it has that vibe.

We need more horror films with the AYAOTD vibe!
