Found the DVD at a used movie shop and about fell over

This movie is almost mythological to me— I have heard of it for years and the DVD has been upwards of $100 dollars every time I've looked online. Lo and behold, I was in a DVD shop last week and spotted it in a glass case for $70. As much as I wanted it, I really didn't want to spend that kind of money. Opted not to get it, but it was on my mind all week long— before that, I had never seen an actual physical copy of it in real life. I went back tonight and splurged a small bit of my tax refund. I couldn't stop myself— seeing a copy of it in the flesh ignited the horror DVD completist in me.

I went home after buying it and saw some copies on eBay selling for $60, but most of them were going for more than what I paid, so it was a fair price, and the disc and case appear to be basically in mint condition. Never seen the movie before and plan on watching it tonight after I finish a paper. I'll post some thoughts and review it later probably. Just had to share, I've been wanting this movie for over seven years now and have never had the gall to actually pay so much for it until now. It's such a rarity though and the fact that it will likely never be released again influenced me to get it. I'm crazy, I know.

I got my copy for $10 at a used store back in '06. Still have it and it barely has a blemish on it.

I too found one ata used DVD store last year, it was priced at $70 bucks as well and I couldn't pull the trigger at that price. This shop often has several rarities in stock.

They had Disney's live-action Jungle Book movie from the 1990s priced at $80, Cool World with Brad Pitt for $40 and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes for $70. I've seen others, but I haven't bought any of them.

Pretty sure I saw cool world a number of times in the $5 dvd bins at walmart. What is so special about these films that people would pay such insain prices for them?

Clown house was recalled immediately after its release by MGM, so there are only a handful of copies out there. When I inquired about them, I was told less than 100 copies were not recovered, so the odds of finding one is super slim. I am fortunate enough to have 2, one of which is still sealed.

I bought the Region 1 DVD for ten bucks at a grocery store in Central New Jersey.

I bought my copy a couple of years ago when it wasn't as hard to obtain.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

Totally picked this up a few weeks ago at a video store going out of business for $2!!! It's used and had too be cleaned as I had too with metal polish, so a side from the disc not looking 100% it sure plays 100% best $2 I have spent in a long long long time!!!
