I'm dreaming but that would be amazing if Shout Factory gained the rights to this and released this on DVD/Blu Ray.

shareI can't see them doing it, given its reputation and all. In the unlikely event that they did distribute it, it'd probably end up on one of their four-movie sets. I certainly can't see them doing a solo release, either on DVD or (especially) Blu-Ray.

shareIt made it out to DVD, but it basically got pulled off the shelves when MGM got wave of Nathan Winters' and many others' protesting against it. It's probably locked somewhere in MGM's vaults and it's highly likely we won't ever see another home video release of it in any of our lifetimes. Hence the reason I paid a ridiculous amount of money to be able to see it/own it.

Why would anyone request this film to be released onto blu-ray? Knowing the young star was sexually molested by the director.. Clearly I was being sarcastic..

I agree, this movie should be banned and never re-released on DVD or Bluray because of the abuse that occurred during the filming of this movie!
But rest assured, it won't be out again.
Oh I forgot, a pedophile might enjoy a Bluray release because of the picture improvement....
shareJust saw it for the 1st time..a 7/10 no doubt. It's EXTREMELY disappointing this movie is so tainted with such a horrible thing going on behind the scenes. Like Twilight Zone: The Movie..it's almost inconceivable to ever expect ANY additional special features other then a trailer. .Shout/Scream Factory releasing a bare bones Bluray doesn't make a whole lot of sense given how they go all out in their horror releases. Having the MGM DVD is good enough for me. The image is quite good & only just found out the DVD is pretty rare.

I was wondering if you ended up purchasing that DVD and if you had any info on it. I found this eBay auction from Brazil claiming to sell an authentic Manufactured on Demand DVD-R of the film (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Clownhouse-DVD-Brand-New-MGM-By-Victor-Salva-/281925726217). I'm not sure how legitimate it is. For one, I don't think MODs were being made yet when this movie came to DVD. I was thinking if the copy you saw in the store was the same, that would give it some credibility.

This is the DVD you saw on ebay? I don't know of any other brazilian release for this film.

But that cover is different from the one in the auction. Actually the auction cover looks identical to the US release. This makes it even more suspicious since I would expect there to be Spanish writing on it, but there is only English.

Well in a brazilian DVD you should expect Portuguese writing not Spanish ;)
I think the DVD of this auction is actually the US MGM DVD. The seller is in Brazil but I think it's the region 1 disc.
One thing I can't understand. It says the item will be shipped worldwide, EXCEPT TO BRAZIL. If the item is in Brazil, why it can't be shipped to a buyer here?
From the description he makes it sound like an overseas edition, and he claims it's Region 0. Also, the fact that it's supposedly Manufactured on Demand (DVD-R), which I don't think was used for the US release. Though he list the UPC of the US release... I dunno, it's just weird. And I've seen a few auctions like this claiming to be authentic MODs. This auction ended at $38. Scary to think someone paid that much if it's just a bootleg. If you search eBay you can also find a German edition of this movie, though I'm not sure if that's an authentic release either, or how the quality is.
shareWhen Scream Factory got the rights to the Jeepers Creepers films, there was actually some concern from some and excitement from others that Scream Factory may pursue the rights to Clownhouse. Scream Factory put that speculation to rest pretty quickly by basically saying they have not, and will never pursue the rights to Clownhouse.
