The Chucky series is the best slasher series. Halloween only had a few good ones and got worse with each sequel. Friday The 13th was just the same movie for the first 7 films then it was set in New York, Camp Crystal Lake again, space, and then a crossover with Freddy Krueger. A Nightmare on Elm Street was pretty decent. The first and third films were the best but then it got pretty redundant really fast with the 4th, 5th, and 6th films but had a good non-canonical 7th film and the crossover with Jason was pretty good too.

Chucky on the other hand, is the best of the four franchises because it's not the same crap over and over again. They go from an apartment with a single mother and her son to a foster home, a military school, a road trip, a meta-Hollywood setting, and then a manor in the woods owned by a paraplegic woman who's mother knew Chucky as a human. I like how each film went from straight horror to dark comedy back to straight horror again. Sure not all the films were perfect. There was the mediocre 3rd installment and the poor 5th one but other than that, it's a good franchise that doesn't take itself too serious, I mean it's a killer doll for God sakes! What was Halloween? The same damn movie nine times in a row with the same maniac trying to kill someone from his family and a doctor trying to convince the townsfolk that he is pure evil. Then they try to say Micheal was controlled by an evil satanic cult in the 6th film. Sorry but this was supposed to be about a kid that kills his sister because he was messed up in the head not because of some goddamn Hellraiser knockoff cult controlling him! Friday The 13th was just the same movie about dumb teens getting killed at a summer camp until the series shifted focus to other places like New York and outer space in the far distant future. A Nightmare on Elm Street was basically a dream demon killing teens in their sleep for seven films. Sure it was a very cool concept but it got old after the 3rd film. So the Chucky series at least goes to different places whereas Halloween, F13, and ANOES is almost the same damn film every sequel! Think about that for once!

Overall, the series has held together much better than most slashers. By the sixth Halloween movie the series had pretty much reached its first low point, as Halloween 5 (1989) and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) were all-but complete bombs. Friday the 13th stayed somewhat consistent through the first six, but they were all essentially the same movie, unlike Child's Play which reinvents itself in a way through each entry. A Nightmare on Elm Street fell apart with The Dream Child (1989) and Freddy's Dead (1991), and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre became a mess after the original. The first two Scream movies are the only ones worth seeing, and Saw became repetitive after the third film. Chucky might not have the box office of any of those aforementioned films (it's highest-grosser was Bride of Chucky in 1998 with around $30 million), but the overall quality and storytelling of his films has at-least remained inspired, and you can tell the filmmakers (and especially Don Mancini) are devoted to the story.

I haven't seen Cult of Chucky.

Cult of Chucky is shit, but it’s better than Seed of Chucky.
