Andy crying
Am I alone in having their heart strings tugged at this scene? I don't know how they got Alex to cry but it was great acting.

The kid should have gotten an Oscar nod for that performance.

I know right. I watched this last night on TV and his crying brought tears to my eyes. Poor thing.
shareThere are child actors who are crap at crying, and then there's people like Andy who can really make you emote with his genuine crying. Wow.
Watching it right now and all I was thinking was wow how did that kid pull that off? There are some "A list" stars that can't show emotion like that.
shareAgreed, one of the best scenes in the film. I know friends that actually got teary-eyed at that scene.
"I am the ultimate badass, you do not wanna `*beep*` wit me!"- Hudson in Aliens.

I so agree. Am watching it now and just like the other times, Andy just breaks my heart. Most kids in horror films are creepy or annoying, but Andy was absolutely adorable and played his part to perfection.
shareI think it could of been that he was really scared! I mean he was only 6 years old and he's in a dark room, even though he knows that cameras are around and crew members are on the set but still it could have been some realness to that scene but he did a great job overall in the movie, so it could have been just good acting
shareThat was a very good bit of acting. I think even the grouchiest person in the world who despises kids would feel sorry for Andy in that scene.
shareI think that is the moment where this movie really stopped being a typical 'goofy' horror film with a hook to being genuinely scary. Rarely do directors get a performance like that out of child actors in these type of movies.
When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.share
I agree! When he says "and he's going to kill me!" and then slides down to the floor crying. He is SO scared and nobody will believe him. Poor kid.

His acting gets even better in the second film. I just wish they'd have had Alex Vincent do CP3 instead of aging the character. Justin Whalin just didn't seem like a good fit as Andy.

From what I heard, Alex had been excited about filming at a military school, then was disappointed when he was told they were getting a new actor for Andy, which sucked. Outside of some casting changes (Maybe combine Whitehurst and Tyler's character into one so he'd be Andy's new best friend and Chucky's new target).
Hell, they could have even gone the route they'd later do with Seed of Chucky and have Andy be Don Mancini's outlet for coming out of the closet. I think Alex was hitting his teens at the time, and since the CP movies were never (at least until Bride) known for their sexual overtones, they could have given him a male love interest and still get away with a 'clean' R rating that the series was known for in the original trilogy.
There's all sorts of ways they could worked Alex into CP3. For all we know, having a younger actor as Andy might have forced them to make changes that made the movie even better than the crap we were served.
