One of the Top 10 Not on DVD

1. Split Image (1982)

2. The Split (1968)

3. Twilight's Last Gleaming (1977)

4. Pretty Maids All in a Row (1971)

5. Bear Island (1980)

6. Wacko (1981)

7. Deadly Blessing (1981)

8. The Brain (1988)

9. Blood Relatives (1978)- never seen it, but have always wanted to.

10. The Passage (1979)

* Sleuth (1972)- currently OOP, not cool! Needs to be re-released.

** Laurel and Hardy's 1930s shorts and features. Currently the only features available are The Devil's Brother, Flying Deuces, and Babes in Toyland, I believe.-- The fact that these haven't been available btw, IS A CRIME!!!!

*** A couple of horror anthology TV series:

Monsters (season 1)

Freddy's Nightmares (season 1)

There's a gazillion more movies, these are the ones that jump to mind.

2009 overall has definitely impressed me, in terms of first time ever DVD releases. Some highlights:

Night of the Creeps, The Friends of Eddie Coyle, Telefon, Wise Blood, The Anderson Tapes, When Time Ran Out, the films in the lost 80s collection, to name a few.

Let's get some of these in 2010.

The Dude abides!!

That's a very interesting list. I'm glad you included "Pretty Maids All in a Row" there. I've seen a few of the others, and I have "The Brain" and "Telefon" on VHS.

Most definitely, The Brain needs a DVD release! I'd say The Kindred, The Outing and Blue Monkey also need releases.

And yes, Monsters and Freddy's Nightmares need DVD releases. As does Dark Room(the show from 1981).

"The Brain" does have an official (as in 'not bootlegged') DVD release by Boulevard Entertainment. It's a barebones DVD with no extras and an ugly, amateurish menu, but video and audio quality are fairly decent. One thing that's weird, though, is that this version only has a run time of 87 minutes, whereas the original is supposed to be 94 minutes long. I can't tell what's been cut, though, since I've never seen the VHS/theatrical version.

Here's the official product page:

I know your comment's 3 years old, but the Boulevard DVD is uncut. I know because I own it too. The only reason it's as such is because PAL DVDs tend to run faster than NTSC DVDs.

You can find the movie on DVD tied up with a movie called hollow point on the Hollywood DVD label in the UK. I picked it up for a quid in the pound shop.
