I used to watch it so much as a child that I memorised it!! And I have to say what a well made, brilliant film it is!! Its effects are virtually faultless and Bette and Lily shine, defo a high note for both careers!
The soundtrack is ace too, anyone know where I can get the song that plays over Sadie Ratliffs shopping trip in New york?
Same here, I always saw this on and liked it even when I was little especially because of it's fun tone. I then ran across this in clips on Youtube then I watched it all the way while I downloaded it from utorrent. I looove looove looove this film because it shows two ladies on top of their form as two different personality types Bette and lily are just amazing in this film, both should be doing another movie together. I love seeing them! I know it will be a good movie when I see them!
I'm about 4+ years late for this comment but I too just watched it for the first time after many years, having LOVED it as a child and... I still love it! I thought it might not have held up over the years, but it's still great. As a Southerner who, like West Virginia Sadie, always dreamed of seeing the world and "a penthouse in the sky" I relate to that character the most; but this movie manages not to insult or extoll either lifestyle exclusively. Whether it's a small southern town with front-porch rockers and charming quilt-selling festivals (plus pig-rasslin' and boredom), or fancy new york with limos and The Plaza (plus homeless people and horrible traffic etc.), it's all about where YOU belong. The characters in this movie long to find their own place in the world and everyone ends up there in the end. Oops, spoiler! ;-)
I came across VHS in a thrift store and grabbed it. After all these years sometimes you're disappointed that a movie u loved wasn't as funny as u remembered but not this one. I enjoyed it as if I'd never seen it before!
