Why weren't they busy looking for Josh?

We don't see Josh's parents looking for him We don't see the police on patrol if there was a missing kid you'd think they be all over it so why didn't his parents try to find him his dad doesn't even appear after the first half, what they did show was his mom cleaning his room and talking into his walkie talkie with his best friend instead of showing that anything could be done to locate her son

The story only followed Josh's life in the city.
It did not follow what was happening with his parents.

In real life, people with missing kids aren't out on the street 24 hours a day either. Who's to say they didn't already spend a lot of their time going door to door and hanging flyers? Who's to say dad wasn't out driving the streets when mom was talking on a walkie talkie? For all they know, Josh could also turn back up at home. We're mostly with Josh during this time and that's the POV the story is telling.

After a while, all you can do is go home and let the police continue their investigation and search. Parents with missing kids need sleep too, AND they also have a toddler to care for.
