Waylon Jennings Song At End
Did anyone else think that the Waylon Jennings/Steve Earle song at the end now seems kind of eerie after being in that movie? I hear that song now, at it kinda gives me the creeps!

shareNo I love that song, and smile fondly when I hear it and think about this film.
shareYes the song is eerie, that's the point of it (the song) being there. The way the little girl looks back at Debra Winger & her expression on her face, you wonder if anything Debra's character said to her had any affect whatsoever. Heck I'm not even a Waylon Jennings fan or a Country Music fan for that matter but i do like that song. Hats off to whoever had the foresight to put this song at the end of the movie, great job!
shareI think most likely, Debra's character had no effect on the little girl. She'll be gone and the little girl will continue to grow up in that environment, the odds are stacked against her. I just also noticed that the ending freezes/pauses with the eerie look on the little girl's face and her "right hand" waving in the air. The chorus of the song at that point is also .. "the devil's right hand." I think it's a sad ending. The girl will grow up evil.
shareGreat insight gardenergala. I think you are probably, and sadly, correct.
