Which way would you want the house?

I can remember as a kid loving the Maitlands' house before they died. That big country mansion was beautiful, but now, as an older college student, I feel like I actually like the way the Deetzs decorated it even though it was supposed to be tacky. There's something really cool about some of the things they did to the house. Not all of it, though. Those chairs in the dining room were hideous!

I preferred the traditional décor. I'm not a fan of modern décor. Theres something very cold about white walls and wood floors. White kitchen counters and sliver décor. It depresses me for some reason

reply

I always really like how the house was originally. Though, the Deetz's modern dining room and fireplace were kind of cool.

How the house was originally both then and now

Good times!!

Neither decor us to my taste, but if I absolutely HAD to choose, I'd take the post-Delia house with viridian walls.

It's be much easier to paint over her walls than to steam off all that dreadful beige wallpaper.

I like the remodeled version , it had a Adams family vibe to it....

I sort of do as well, I adore the viridian walls!

But 1) we weren't shown enough of it to judge, and 2) to get the viridian walls you have to take the "sculpture".

For me the way Adam and Barbara had it. I feel their anger at what the Deetzes did to their house. Pretty well any home owner I know has their homes like Adam and Barbara. Frankly Delia's house design is like something from Hell.

I'm a traditional person (my wife and I built a Colonial for our home) but I didn't particularly care for the way Barbara had the house. "Country Clutter" is a way of describing an overdone country decor.

OTOH, the Deetz's decor was cold and sterile.

Given the choice of one or the other, I'd take the original house. One of my friends has a house built in the late 1700s, and it has an updated kitchen and bath, but both are tasteful and use natural materials and traditional colors reminiscent of the original build.

The way it before. I have always hated modern art and deco
