In the cartoon they established he was a dead French musician. And he played the violin frequently.. and in the movie he did say he went to Juliard.

I mean, he also says he lived through the Plague. But I agree, I think he's a ghost in the film. However, in the original script, he was written more as some sort of demon.

In the movie he was originally Juno's partner and went 'South' and was exiled in a way.

3rd generation American from a long line of Gottscheers... it was Drandul, dude!

He also says he attended Harvard Business school which didn't exist during the black plague. Basically he was making stuff up obviously. I'm pretty sure Adam and Barbara realized this.
