Not so much because the age difference is so negligible, but because Bette used LK as a punchline in her song, "Fat As I Am", which appears on her comedy album, Mud Will Be Flung Tonight.

Well who knows, maybe Lanie Kazan didn't mind or got over it. I loved their chemistry in this movie (actually Lanie's chemistry with Mayim Bialik, who played CC Bloom as a young girl was great too). I'm sorry they only had the one scene together.
Don't let anyone ever make you feel like you don't deserve what you want.
Hopefully she took it with good humor! I too think that Lanie, Bette, and Mayim had excellent chemistry; it is so easy to buy them as mother and child/adult daughter. Wonderful.
