REAL DVD release!

Union Station Media and Anchor Bay Entertainment are releasing Apartment Zero on DVD December 12th of this year.

It will include the letterboxed widescreen version, for all you fans of original aspect ratios. That's all I know so far.

But the quality is really good, as they remastered the picture.

Whoo hoo! I'm so psyched this is coming out, and I didn't have to spend $100 on Amazon trying to get a pirated copy! I also hear it's going to be priced around $10 because it's an older title.

I'm very curious to know what your source of information is. I checked Anchor Bay's website and they don't even include it in the catalog of upcoming releases. Also, if you look here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008G8N6/ref=ase_imdb-adbox/102-6462950-4952166?n=130&tagActionCode=imdb-adbox

Amazon doesn't mention anything about a new version coming out. It was already released on Region 1 DVD in June 1999, which is now out of print. You can buy used ones through Amazon's sellers starting at $49.99.

I apologize if it sounds like I'm doubting the veracity of your information, but I would really like to know specifically where you heard this from.

Oh, and by the way - I've never heard of Amazon selling pirated copies of anything. Perhaps you meant Ebay?

I've looked everywhere I could think of for this movie. Finally pre-ordered it for rental from Netflix. I've heard so much about it that I can hardly wait to see it. Sure hope it's released on DVD soon.

I'm scheduled to work on the digital betacam master tomorrow. I don't know what it's being used for, but I think I can safely assume that they are preparing it for DVD release. I'll post again when I get more info.

Reading your message I must say that you do not know what you are talking about. Sometimes people just talk without knowing the fact - you are one of them it seems.

I myself purchased (without knowing it of course) a "bootleg copy" of Apartment Zero for $ 109.54 via Amazon.com from the seller "cds_dvds_guaranteed". The order number was 058-2507930-5625361. The quality of this DVD is very poor and the DVD has problems starting on any player. The jacket printing has "typos" (such as Apartment Zerois) - which is something I have never seen on a "original" Studio release DVD. The DVD itself is the poorest quality. There you are - Amazon does sells bootlegged copies. Naturally, I informed them about this. I also left a fitting remark on the sellers Amazon files.

You are correct however, Anchor Bay is not releasing this title in the near future. No one else will as far as I know. Thats why I have paid that money to get a print of that movie.

Reading your message, I must say you don't know how to read posts - you read into them what you want to read.

I said I had never HEARD of Amazon selling bootlegs...I never said it didn't happen. Now, however, on that point - there is a difference between AMAZON and vendors who SELL THROUGH Amazon. Obviously you dealt with the latter. I've heard of this happening before, but I've never heard of anyone buying a bootleg copy of anything from AMAZON ITSELF.

You didn't buy yours from Amazon, you bought it from a vendor who posts through Amazon. There is a difference between the two, and you need to understand that.

The confusion seems to be that the major on-line retailer offering the DVD claims Anchor Bay as the releasing company. I just got an e-mail from tlavideo.com advertising the DVD as coming from Anchor Bay on 12/12/2006. I think this must be a mistake - unless Anchor Bay is releasing it in some country other than the U.S. I haven't been able to find it listed on any other retail website at all and no ebay sellers are offering pre-orders.

I'm predicting this will be another budget company release much like the DVD edition already out there. If it is re-released at least people won't be forced to pay outrageous prices to get a copy. Still, it would be nice if Anchor Bay or some other company would consider a proper release for this one day. I've never been able to see the uncut version and would love to have the chance someday.

BTW, here's the link to the tlavideo page about "Apartment Zero". Since they listed the country of release as Great Britain I checked the Anchor Bay UK website but still no mention of AZ as one of their upcoming releases.

A previous poster mentioned Union Station Media as releasing the movie alongside Anchor Bay. Anyone know anything about them? I couldn't find much in a google search.

Well done, struzyk, on flushing $110 dollars down the crapper. I hope your full-time job is not as a financial adviser.

Cheers, g24601. Will definately be picking this up around christmas time.

The release was pushed back to February since ABE and Union Station Media wanted to give it a "proper release". As mentioned, they are releasing the full theatrical version, and have also included some really fanatastic commentary tracks.

Martin Donovan and David Koepp were both closely involved in the release, which is why it's such an exciting product to see finally available in the format it deserves.

I still don't know about the actual DVD release, however, I am watching a new film transfer to Digi Beta for Union Station right now. It is standard definition 4x3 FF Anamorphic (what a lot of people incorrectly call 16x9 FF - as 16x9 only exists in high definition) and it looks a million times better than the old version that I watched a few weeks ago. This version is 124:54 as opposed 119:35 min. version I wrote about before. Of course warning cards and logos will lengthen it a bit more by the time it hits the shelves. The company seems to care a great deal about this film. They may not have the budget of the big studios, but they are doing everything possible to put out a quality product. I think you will all be pleased.

I hope the person that overpaid for a bootleg DVD on Amazon.com apologizes to everyone who indeed DID have the correct information. Said person should admit that they did not know what THEY were talking about.

I found out that there is supposed to be an audio commentary too. I don't yet know who will be speaking on it though.
