He seems like a pretty lean dude in real life but looked like a linebacker in this film. Padding, perhaps??

I'm assuming it was just padding, but he could've built up some heft :P
Personally, I never liked the actor much, he was good in this movie though.
It was padding, in the scenes where caan drags him out of the car and puts him against the wall, his fingers squish the foam nearly comically on his chest and in his armpits.
shareRemember that all of the aliens had huge chests (look at the mortuary scene, for example) - even Terence Stamp!
They were all padded up.
