Why did Harcourt have a British accent?

I think it's hilarious - they came straight to California, but Harcourt gets the British accent. Did he study abroad for a month? I just thought that was a hilarious touch in an otherwise great movie!

The species is adaptive. He probably picked it up from the person who taught him the language.
